A letter from Morrell to Lois' mother, Elsie, thanking her for her letter, mentioning that he's taken to travelling on horseback as the transportation situation has been heavily impacted by the call for a general strike by the revolutionary forces and the counter-push by the army to keep local businesses open, sharing that Lois and the children have been relocated to the Agricultural school for the time being as they intend to use the clinic as an emergency hospital in the event of violence and didn't want the children so close to potential danger, describing how he and some others have painted red crosses on the family station wagon so it can be used as an emergency transport if they need to get someone to a hospital, assuring her that Lois and the children are doing well, describing the family's preparations in case they need to leave Cuba quickly, discussing the larger efforts to evacuate American families from Cuba by plane, mentioning that the US Navy is on standby in case evacuations need to happen by boat, offering his condolences in regards to a recent fire, and sharing that Gerardo had enjoyed his trip to visit to Florida was very nice.
